Typica Cafe

Typica Cafe

After an unsuccessful search for it at pudu plaza, my dad finally found this coffee shop at the ground floor of Shaw Parade in KL last saturday. Dad heard an interview of this place’s owner on radio last few weeks and decided to go give it a try. The coffee shop which is in a deserted corner of Shaw Parade was open only last April. It is a small shop which can seat about 10 people at most i think.

After seating at the corner of the tiny shop, 1 of the pretty shopkeeper passed us 2 menus and started introducing their cafe’s special. They prepare their coffees in 2 methods, syphon and filter. To order, customers can choose which method they want and which type of coffee beans. There are 6 different types to choose from. Although it is not printed in their menu, they also serve fruit juices and latte.

According to the friendly shopkeeper, syphon method produces a more intense flavor compared to the filter method. After ordering 2 cups of coffee and a japanese cucumber fruit juice, the shopkeeper recommend us their special ’taufoo cake’. She said the texture of the cake is very soft with a layer of peanut butter in between. It sounds nice so we ordered a plate also.

After taking our order, the shopkeeper even invited us to sit at the bar to watch her make our coffee. She was very friendly and chatty, explaining the steps as she was making our coffee. After getting our order, mom and dad starting reading the newspaper and enjoying their coffee while sd and me explore around the tiny place and snapping photos all over the place. As both the shopkeepers were young girls in their 20s we started chatting about coffee. The shopkeeper recommended their invention pandan latte and also mention about irish coffee. Since irish coffee is not common, we decided to try it also.

There are a few layers in the irish coffee; syrup, whisky, coffee and whipped cream; bottom up. We drank it without stirring to taste the different layers of the drink. Although both the coffee and whisky tastes distinctive in the drink but they blend well together.

Besides selling drinks, the cafe also sells coffee equipment such as coffee bean grinder and coffee syphon. The prices are not too expensive and they do not charge service charges or government tax. All in all although the variety of food and drink they offer are abit limited but the service and quality they offer makes the cafe worth a visit. The deco of the place are quite homey and comfy despite their limited space. It is a nice place to de-stress while reading over a cup of coffee and cake or catching up with friends.

blink..blink..blink..

In a blink of an eye my final semester break is half gone. Before the end of my previous semester, I had planned to run some simulations for my final year project and also edit my progress reports for addition into my thesis. However i guess i was too ambitious as the only thing related to my fyp i have done during the hols is sending an email to my lecturer to ask him how should i proceed. His reply is still saved safely in my inbox but i have not done anything that he suggested. Oh well…since this is my final semester break before i graduate, i guess i might as well enjoy it to the fullest..haha

I have totally forgotten about my blog of 4 posts until recently when 2 of my friends decided  to start a food reviewing blog. Since we all need to eat everyday and it’s always nice to try something new instead of the usual coffeeshop round the corner, so they decided to start this food reviewing blog. It documents our meals adventures and hopefully it’ll introduce the blog readers to some new nice and affordable eateries. For those who are interested, you can visit the blog at www.foodposition.com .

So anyway, back to my own blog…since I finally remembered that I have a blog, maybe I’ll try to blog from time to time. But i’m not sure if anyone will ever see my posts….but i’m not having this blog to have readers.. Haha i’m contradicting myself. Probably i’ll post bout new stuff or places i find out about to document the final year of my undergraduate life

Finally i’m a second year uni student or ’sophomore’ as my uni records say. Classes have started for nearly a month but i’m still in a holiday mood thanks to the xmas n new year breaks. But its high time i shift into my studying mode as i just realise we’ll be having tests starting next week. =( All my subjects this semester requires alot of serious studying and not jus 1 or 2 days preparation anymore. That’s sad cos i cant seem to fit ’studying’ into my daily schedule..haha.. Actually i sud be studying now, in fact i’ve already took out all my notes n highlights n stuff..but in the end, i end up in front of my laptop…blogging. It just doesn’t seem right to be studying =P

Anyway i guess i should really get back to studyin if i wan to maintain my grades. Oh well..the dilemma of a student =P

smile pasta

Recently i’ve just finish watching a taiwanese ‘idol drama’ titled ’smile pasta’ starring Nicholas Teo and Cyndi Wang. The first thing i noticed was someone’s dressing really can change a person’s whole outlook. Nicholas Teo is a M’sian who made it into the entertainment world by winning the Astro Talent Quest some years back. He was a simple, guy next door kinda guy when he won the competition. But in the drama, he look like a whole different person. He look very much more stylish, good looking, hip, ..etc..

Anyway back to the drama..its kinda like a taiwanese version of the korean drama ‘full house’. I find some parts of it really sweet and romantic and touching. How i wish i can get an idol bf too =P Especially the ending when the guy gave up a chance for an audition just because of a promise. Another part that i like was when the girl was sick and the guy went over to her house.

hm…im not very good at reviews. Anyway I recommend any girl who enjoys romantic dramas to watch this show. Although some parts of it are kinda unrealistic but its enjoyable n entertaining.
